Dr. Z grew up in Toronto and completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in biology at York University and a Master of Science degree in evolutionary genetics at the University of Toronto. She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph, followed by a small animal internship at an emergency/specialty/primary care hospital in Massachusetts. She then moved to Denver, Colorado and worked as an emergency and critical care veterinarian for several years at a busy emergency and specialty hospital. She then made the decision to follow her passion and become a feline veterinarian! She has always absolutely loved cats and so devoting her career to helping cats was a natural next step.
She worked at two cat-only clinics in Colorado where she was able to grow her knowledge of feline medicine. She has finally moved back home to Toronto and is delighted to be able to continue helping cats and their families. Dr. Z is a certified Cat Friendly Veterinarian (from the American Association of Feline Practitioners). Her veterinary interests include internal medicine, pain management, feline interstitial cystitis and feline behaviour/enrichment.
In her spare time, she enjoys working out, meditating, stand-up paddle boarding, reading, hiking and spending time with her little cat baby, Creamsicle.
